SUMMARY:Responsible for managing employer and employee tax contributions and reconciliations. This role is critical to ensuring the organizations is compliant with tax legislations. Applies principles of accounting to perform accounting tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of payroll and sales tax transactions. This includes processing, distribution and maintenance of records by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Accounting and CFO.
Calculating employee and employer tax amounts.
Preparing and filing of Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly Tax reports for U.S. federal, state, and local income tax.
Reconciliation of Payroll Tax Deductions with the general ledger.
Monitoring of Legislative changes and incorporation to the ERP system.
Posts accounts payable invoices in the ERP system.
Generate reports for management and audits.
Handling tax-related queries.
Processing payments for payroll tax deductions and sales tax payments.
Imports and uploads files; creates new import files for Excel as needed.
Generates and issues state W-2 forms at the end of the year.
Identify opportunities to improve current processes and procedures related to tax accounting function.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Payroll Tax Specialist is subject to supervision by the Director of Accounting and CFO.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating policies, and procedure manuals using English language. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Contact Management Systems; Internet programs; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
