What day do Cobb County schools start? ›

The Cobb County School Calendar for the 2023 to 2024 school year began on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 and ends on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. The start date is the same date as last year, and the end date is 2 days earlier than last year. School holidays: First Day of School – August 1, 2023.

A student must be a current Cobb County School District resident in order to apply for a school choice transfer. If a student is approved for a transfer and subsequently moves outside the Cobb County School District, the school choice transfer will end at the time of the move.

High Schools 11:30 a.m. Elementary Schools 12:30 p.m. Middle Schools 1:30 p.m.

At three unexcused absences, the homeroom teacher will contact the parent by email. At five unexcused absences, the principal will send a letter to the parent notifying them of the five unexcused absences. At seven unexcused absences, a referral is made to the School Social Worker.

For most elementary schools, class begins at 7:50 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m. Middle schools start at 9:15 a.m. and end at 4:15 p.m., and class begins in the district's high schools at 8:20 a.m. and let out at 3:30 p.m.

History of Osborne High School

As the oldest high school in Cobb County, R. L. Osborne has served as a cornerstone of our community for more than 120 years. Established as Olive Springs Community School in 1881, the building was comprised of a single room serving grades one through eight.

Three Cobb elementary Schools are in the top 25 schools in Georgia including Mount Bethel Elementary School, 15; Sope Creek Elementary School, 16, and Timber Ridge Elementary School, 24. There are a total of 7 Cobb elementary schools in the top 50 and 11 in the top 100 of Georgia's best elementary schools.
